Samsung UN55D8000 is a 3D enabled led television with a flat panel construction, 1080p full hd capable with a 240hz refreshes rate and micro dimming plus technology. This model possesses a huge 55 inch display, a gorgeous base, and it can be mounted on a wall or simply be kept on the stand that comes with it. The bezel is ultra thin, as it is the entire set. The lack of a bigger bezel really does make a difference and not only aesthetically, but in terms of functionality too, giving a looking thru a window feeling and also a better 3D viewing.

The menu is full of options to tweak the picture, including shadow detail and various 3d-related settings to reduce ghosting and cross-talk, so you can set up the TV to your preference and the viewing scenario like movie, standard, dynamic, etc. Samsung UN55D8000 does a fine job with lowly resolution signals. At times, it’s difficult to tell you are not watching in HD.
3D viewing offered by the UN55D8000 is impressive and definitely benefits from the design changes. The 3D picture is popping right out of the thin frame. 3d auto-switching automatically detects a 3d format input and switches without the need for pressing so many buttons. The 2d/3d conversion ability of this flat screen tv allows you to view 2d images in a higher quality format.
Since 2011, Samsung improved the glasses so that viewing 3d movies is better than ever before because now they utilize bluetooth connectivity instead of traditional IR, resulting in 3D glasses made for earlier models incompatible with 2011 TVs. On a single charge, these glasses can last up to 40 hours. They are active-shutter type glasses and come with standard USB cords to charge them. You can plug the cords into the back of the set and the glasses will recharge when the set is ON.
In terms of audio quality, you can’t really expect much from a flat screen TV.
The electrical power consumption is very low which can be felt since the Samsung UN55D8000 barely warms up after use.
The built-in Wifi allows you to connect to Samsung’s Smart interface and have access to apps like Netflix, Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, Pandora, a web browser, and several games and applications that are either free or paid for. As soon as you are connected to the internet, immediately update your Samsung UN55D8000′s software. If you don’t, you may run into some problems.
The qwerty remote control is very useful for easy typing when you access all your smart tv features or network content. The QWERTY side of the remote needs to be paired with the TV and can be a pain, most of the customers succed doing this after a few tries. There is also a Samsung app that turns your iPhone into a remote but it can only be used when the TV is ON for the app to communicate with it.
Samsung UN55D8000 definitely needs a more detailed manual on how to use most of the features also it does not explain the process of pairing as well as it should.
